In brief
Aqua Head Spa is a water head spa ritual built on the Mizu-uta method (song of water) for the day you land in Riga, to settle after the journey before you check in at the hotel. Basic lasts 90 min for 65 €, Premium 105 min for 80 €, Deluxe 120 min for 95 €, and you can leave your suitcase with us, have tea or coffee, and we can suggest a place nearby for breakfast or lunch and book a table. The studio is at Rūpniecības iela 5, Rīga, 15 minutes by car from the airport and open every day 09:00-20:00.

Why does the body feel so far behind after a flight?
You have arrived, but part of you is still somewhere over the clouds. The clock on your phone has changed, the one inside you has not. The cabin air was dry for hours, your neck held your head at an angle a seat was never designed for, and your shoulders carried the bag, the queue and the gate announcements.
None of this is unusual. Health services describe jet lag as the body's internal clock taking time to adjust to a new time zone, and they suggest simple things: daylight, water, and adapting to local time. A head spa is not on that list, and we do not pretend it is. What we offer is something quieter: a pause between the airport and the city, so that you arrive in Riga with your whole self.
What can a head spa do on arrival day, and what can it not?
Honestly: a head spa does not cure jet lag and does not reset your sleep. If you are troubled by itching, flaking or hair loss, that is a question for a dermatologist.
What it can give is stillness after a day of movement. Warm water after hours of dry cabin air, warm hands on the scalp, slow and attentive head massage after holding still in a seat, a familiar scent, and a cup of tea at the end. You come in still travelling, and you leave having arrived.
When should I book on arrival day?
A morning landing is the best scenario for a ritual. Hotels usually let you check in mid-afternoon, around three or four, and otherwise those first hours in a new city pass in a café or a hotel lobby with a suitcase at your side. The studio opens at 09:00. A ritual at 10:00 fills exactly those empty hours between the plane and the room: you have the massage and walk to the hotel unhurried, with the journey already behind you.
Your suitcase can stay in the studio. Before or after the ritual you can sit with a good cup of tea or coffee, and we will tell you where to have a good breakfast or lunch nearby, and can book a table for you. Here everyone feels at home - the perfect place to acclimatise after the flight. For breakfast we recommend Mulberry, Mimosa or Lidojošā Varde - tell us, and we will book a table. The morning that would have been spent waiting becomes the first quiet part of your trip.
Leave a margin of an hour or two after landing for passport control, baggage and the ride into town. For an afternoon arrival, an early evening slot lets the day close softly before dinner. We are open every day from 09:00 to 20:00.
Book in advance, ideally when you book the flight or the hotel. A deposit of 20 € per guest holds your time. If you travel as a couple, each of you gets your own programme, side by side.
How do I get from the airport to the studio, with luggage?
The studio is 15 minutes by car from Riga airport, so a taxi brings you almost door to door. If you prefer public transport, bus 22 runs from the airport towards the centre. From the Old Town we are 10 minutes on foot.
You are welcome to come straight from the plane with your suitcase. Tell us when you book that you will arrive with luggage, and we will make room for it.
Will I leave with wet hair?
No. After the ritual your hair is dried, and only then do you go to check in. Drying is included in the ritual, so there is no need to set aside extra time for it.
Aqua Head Spa: a ritual for the day you land
Aqua Head Spa is built on the Mizu-uta method, the song of water. Water is part of the pause here: warm, steady, unhurried, after a day spent in dry air and narrow seats.
Like every ritual at HEADSPA, it begins with a consultation and includes manual and device head massage with combs, care by Davines or Limba chosen for you, aromatherapy, a hand cream-butter and a tea ceremony at the end.
- Basic - the core of the programme, 90 min, 65 €.
- Premium - adds a hand and foot massage, 105 min, 80 €. After hours in an aircraft seat, with your feet under the seat in front, this is where the care is felt most.
- Deluxe - adds hand and foot massage and a body scrub, 120 min, 95 €.

Other rituals are in all rituals.
What should I bring, and what happens after?
Nothing special. Come as you are, in travel clothes. We will offer you water, tea or coffee in the studio.
Afterwards, step outside. In November and December, Riga is dark early and the air is damp and cool, but the city is close: the Old Town is 10 minutes on foot. What stays with you is the afterglow, the calm that remains when you finally open the door of your hotel room and the journey feels long behind you.
In Japanese culture there is a word for a host who prepares for the guest before the guest has asked: Omotenashi, the art of true hospitality. On arrival day that is exactly what we try to be.

What time can I book on arrival day?
A morning arrival suits best. Before or after the ritual you can have tea or coffee with us and leave your suitcase in the studio, and we can suggest a place nearby for breakfast or lunch and book a table. We are open every day 09:00-20:00; leave an hour or two after landing and book in advance.

Yes. Your suitcase stays in the studio. For breakfast we recommend Mulberry, Mimosa or Lidojošā Varde - tell us, and we will book a table for you.
